I feel you little buddy.
I feel you little buddy.
My interpretation and reason why Ice King is my favorite character. The love that went into creating him is beautiful:
Ice King is a symbol of people not being able to abandon a past person. It is extremely difficult to leave those behind who sacrifice their sanity, mind, body, and soul for another human being. That person becomes a shell of their foundation to save someone else. They are driven to the point of corruption by the crown of power, for that is the only way to gain significant protection from the evils of life. So focused on saving the world (Marceline) from apocalyptic destruction they become undone. They become consumed by the need for power that they are no more. Because we know what they did for us to live we become so sympathetic empathetic we are crippled.
Hoping for the day that we can return the favor bringing them back to light. For the day we can unchain them from the perils of darkness, but were reminded by a stranger (Finn) to disengage. Were reminded from a new entity entering our life that we can’t ignore the present or impending future. Were reminded regardless of our lost, past person present destruction can not be tolerated. Our lost still has to be accountable for their present decisions regardless of our history. This new beacon of direction hammers us to accept the inevitable. Hammers us to let go so we want become lost ourselves saving the world (Ice King).
Despite this push we can’t help the love from holding us still bound. We can’t fathom leaving this lost despite our looming doom. We can’t just walk away because walking away leaves us feeling selfish of their sacrifice. We can’t help but to see the overwhelming desperation harboring in their eyes. Their loud screams for someone to love them are silent because they have forgotten that we do. This unspoken declaration have rendered our services virtually useless. Even if we remove the crown their new mold is ingrained. Our love alone can no longer save this person for, they also desperately need a new light to reverse their darkness.
Everyone has become deeply sympathized to this person’s plight. They can’t help but to feel our same impasse. For they now want to take the crown too. Each person knowing the death of themselves is a foot ahead, but refusing to acknowledge.
For it is human nature to fight for what was or what can be be.
I did that…?
